OAES News and Notes:

*OMAHA AREA ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE 2008*

In conjunction with the March 15th, 2008 Omaha St. Patrick's Day Parade, sponsored by the Omaha Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Omaha Area Emerald Society (which is made up of public safety officers of Irish decent) is once again inviting Public Safety agencies and their personnel to form as part of the Emerald Society (OAES) entry. Whether you have cruisers, firetrucks, specialty equipment, or personnel all will form a large contingent dedicated to public safety. In keeping with an idea from past years you can honor the fallen officers from your agency by walking with an American or Agency flag carried in behalf of that fallen officer during the parade. Many agencies also add a banner on these flags with the fallen officers name. The parade will begin in downtown Omaha at 10:00am, with a 9:15am show-up time, near 15th & Howard St.

I am the parade contact for the Emerald Society and can be contacted by cell at 680-2743 or email; redcopper@gmail.com. I will have additional information as the date approaches so please contact me if your agency intends to participate.

The National Conference of Law Enforcement Emerald Societies hands out 4 $500 scholarships at their May meeting in Washington.

The qualifications are a little different than our local scholarships have been.  I don't think a member is eligible, but dependents (children and I think grandchildren) are eligible.

If you are interested, let me know and I will get you a copy of the qualifications.

Time is short!!
